Most of the mid-tower to full-tower ATX computer cases in the market offer a sufficient number of bays for normal storage needs. However, if you want to build a home server, NAS server, backup server, or media server then you need a case that can accommodate a lot of hard drives, preferably 10 drives or more. Also, if you are a professional who is into video editing, and sound editing and works with a huge amount of raw data then having a case with lots of hard drive bays can come in very handy as you can easily expand the storage capacity of your PC or workstation by adding more hard drives. So, if you are looking for such cases that come with 8 to 10+ HDD cages or bays then here I am going to list some of the best ones out there in the market right now. These are non-server chassis and are standard ATX PC cases that also have good airflow so that your hard drives / SSDs and other components remain cool during continuous operation under heavy loads. Also, some of these PC cases do come with hot-swappable drive bays or cages for easy access to the drives.

Final Words
So, if you are looking for an ATX case with lots of hard drive bays to build a NAS server, backup server, or a workstation then you can pick any of the above-mentioned ATX cases, based on your specific requirements (that generally include form factor and features). Some cases come with hot-swappable drive bays, some are silent, some are compact while some have dedicated cooling over the hard drives. These cases are generally meant for professional use and not for gaming as such. If you have any queries regarding the topic or the case then please ask me in the comment section below.

Thank you for the Article.
I decided to go with the SilverStone Technology SST-CS380B-USA, and utilized the link provided.
Cheers!
You are most welcome.
how is the antec p101 not the list? It’s a steal at $110 for 8x 3.5″ bays and 2x 2.5″ plus you can stash an 11th drive in the 5.25″
Thanks for the suggestion.
No Fractal Define 7 XL? Up to 20 3.5″ HDD
Will add. Thanks for mentioning it.
I already have 3 of the Fractal Design R5’s in use, 2 as desktops and the 3rd as a case for an 8 drive NAS server. I love the Fractal Design cases. Easy to work with, well designed, spacious. But I am looking for an R5/R7 case with at least 8 HOT swap bays. Any suggestions?
I can suggest you in another brand. Just have a look at SilverStone DS380.
I’ve bought the Node 804 and it is nice. The difficult thing with buildin with mini-ATX and mini-ITX is pairing it with a motherboard and expansion card that can give sufficient amount of SATA-ports. It can get expensive with a small motherboard with lots of SATA-ports coupled with a singe PCI-card with even more SATA-ports. Which probably is needed if you need to be able to use all 14 drives, as with Node 804.
If you go for ATX-size then you can buy a cheaper motherboard (instead of a specialized one with lots of SATA-ports) and then buy several cheap PCI-cards for extra SATA-ports. Instead of buying a single expensive SATA-controller card.
Very nice article. Gave me some serious leads for my DYI NAS project! Finding ATX cases with hotswap bays in the front is not very easy. Going to look more into the CS380 and maybe getting one of those. Planning on reusing some hardware from my old gaming rig and setting up TrueNAS.
Thanks for the appreciation!
