X570 chipset is the flagship chipset for AMD Ryzen 3000 series and Ryzen 5000 series processors having AM4 Socket. It is a high-end chipset that offers a great number of features and natively supports PCI-Express 4.0. However, the main issue faced by the X570 chipset is that it gets very hot and is also high in power consumption. To overcome the heating issue, almost all the X570 motherboards come with an actively cooled (heatsink + fan) X570 chipset to keep the temperatures in check. The major downside of this approach is the annoying noise created by the small fan and also there is a risk of fan failure, which may result in chipset failure if it gets overheated for a longer time. These issues have received a lot of criticism from users and most of them have reported some kind of fan failure within 12 months or earlier. So, to address these issues, a revamped or a revision of the X570 chipset (denoted as X570S for motherboards) has been released that can be cooled passively with heatsink only and it also draws a little less power. Aside from these changes, there are no differences between X570 and X570S as both of them come with the same features and specifications. Recently, many motherboard manufacturers have started to come with motherboards implementing X570S chipset and here I am going to list some of the best X570S motherboards that you can buy for your gaming or work PC.
Best Mainstream / Mid-range X570 Motherboard
[Strong VRM Solution & Cooling, High Quality and Features for the Price]
Possibly one of the best X570 motherboards you can buy for your mainstream as well as high-end gaming or work PC. The motherboard has got it all whether it is features, build quality, or strong power delivery, and that too at a very attractive price. The motherboard comes with two PCI-E 4.0 x16 slots where the first slot is steel armored and works at full x16 bandwidth while the secondary slot works at PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth. For NVMe SSDs, the motherboard has got two M.2 slots that work at PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth. Both the M.2 slots come with M.2 Shield Frozr heatsink to prevent overheating of M.2 NVMe solid-state drives. The motherboard supports DDR4 RAM up to 5100 MHz in OC mode with a total capacity of up to 128GB. The motherboard is finished in black and grey color that gives it a stealthy and sporty look.
The motherboard is equipped with a powerful VRM solution with 12+2 Power Phases, and the extended heatsink over the VRM keeps the temperature well under check. Such strong power delivery with good cooling allows the board to easily run a flagship AMD Ryzen 9 processor with a decent amount of overclocking. For network connectivity, the board comes with 2.5G LAN and integrated Wi-Fi 6 functionality, and for general connectivity, it comes with USB 3.2 Gen2 and Gen 1 ports. Other features include Flash BIOS Button, S/PDIF output optical audio, M.2 Shield Frozr, PCI-E Steel Armor, DDR4 Boost, Pre-installed I/O Shield, RGB Headers, EZ LED Control switch, EZ Debug LED, Audio Boost 5, Pump Fan Support, Resizable BAR (Re-Size BAR) Support, MSI Mystic Light RGB Support. Display connectivity options include one HDMI 2.1 port that allows you to use onboard graphics of an APU with it. Overall, I think it is one of the best value X570S boards around. Highly Recommended!

Best High-end X570S Motherboard
[Great Power Delivery & Cooling, Good Looks, Feature Rich]
If you are looking for a high-end X570S motherboard that offers more features, slots, and power than the MSI MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI then GIGABYTE X570S AORUS MASTER is probably the best option. It is also a very good-looking motherboard and features a stylish design. The board comes with three steel armored PCI-Express 4.0 x16 slots, four M.2 slots with heatsinks for NVMe SSDs, four armored DDR4 memory slots that can support 5100 MHz RAM (OC mode) to up to 128GB. When it comes to power delivery then the motherboard comes with Direct 14+2 Phases Infineon Digital VRM Solution with 70A Power Stage. The VRM is cooled by a heatsink having fins array design and a copper heatpipe that makes direct contact with the VRM components for better heat transfer.
For USB connectivity, the board comes with high-speed USB 3.2 Gen2 ports and an ultra-fast USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port that can deliver data transmission speeds of up to 20Gb/s. The network connectivity options include Intel 2.5GbE LAN and Intel Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5. Other features include Pre-installed I/O Shield, Clear CMOS button, Q-Flash Plus Button (to flash BIOS without Installing the CPU, Memory, and Graphics Card), RGB & ARGB Headers, RGB FUSION 2.0 with Multi-Zone Addressable LED Light Show Design, Smart Fan 6. There is no display output port on the motherboard which is a common thing among high-end and enthusiast-grade boards because no one uses them without a discrete graphics card. Overall, a great high-end passively cooled X570 chipset motherboard that does offer a lot more compared to its price.

Other good high-end X570 Motherboards
Well, other than silent operation and passive cooling, X570S motherboards do not offer anything extra but to most users, a passively cooled motherboard is kind of a deal-breaker because it eliminates the annoyance and reliability issues related to the fan. They may cost a little more than X570 motherboards but I think it is better to have peace of mind over a slight price increase in some cases.
