Best Static Pressure Fan for Radiator, Heatsink in 2024 [120mm & 140mm]

If you are looking for a computer fan that can push air with a greater force in one direction then you need a high static pressure fan. There are generally two types of PC fans that you find in the market. One is the high airflow fans and the other one is the static pressure fans. Airflow fans move a large amount of air in an open environment while static pressure can push air with great force in a restricted environment. Both these fans have their own areas of applications but here we will talk about high static pressure fans only.

The fan blades of high static pressure fans are wider, are more curved, and are directed toward the heat source. Also, there is a lesser gap between the adjacent blades of a static pressure fan. These fans are designed to exert maximum air pressure in a focused direction so that air can reach into all the gaps and openings comfortably and cool down the component or heat source effectively. Static Pressure Fans are used on Radiators, CPU Coolers, GPU, or other Heatsinks, PC Case Front intake,  Drive bay intakes, and on restricted spaces. I strongly advise not to use them as normal case fans other than as a front intake fan when there are drive cages ahead of it. Here in this post, I am going to list down the best static pressure fans that can blow air with great force in one direction.

Note: The unit that is used to measure the pressure of these static fans is mmH2O, which is defined as the pressure exerted at the base of a column of water exactly 1 millimeter (mm) high. Higher the mmH2O rating of a fan, the higher its static pressure. Some computer fans can be hybrid in nature which means they offer a good balance between static pressure and airflow. Static pressure fans generate more noise compared to airflow fans most of the time.

The static pressure and airflow for this fan stand at 1.62 mmH2O and 68.1 RPM respectively. It is a PWM fan with Phanteks’ UFB bearing and has a speed in the range of 500 – 1600 RPM. The fan is pretty much silent and it also gets rubber padding on the corners to reduce vibrations and noise. It does not compromise on build quality and is greatly suited for big radiators, heatsinks, and computer cases.

Corsair Air Series SP140 LED High Static Pressure Fan

Corsair Air Series SP140 is the 140mm variant of the Corsair Air Series SP120 LED High Static Pressure Fan. However, it generates less static pressure and airflow compared to its 120mm variant because of its lower fan speed of 1440 RPM. The fan comes with sleeve bearing, and a 3-pin connector and is noisier than the 120mm version with a noise level rating of 29.3 dBA. It is available in green, red, blue, purple, and white LED colors. Not the best 140mm static pressure fan out here but offers a great price-to-performance ratio. These are good for front intake fans and may be used on the 140mm / 280mm radiators as well.

Final Words

In the end, I would like to say that if you want to get out the best cooling performance from a heatsink or radiator then these above-mentioned high static pressure fans will not let you down. These static pressure fans are available in both 120mm and 140mm sizes and you can choose according to your needs or requirements. You can also use them in restricted spaces especially in front of drive bay intakes or as a front intake fan. Generally, 120mm static pressure fans generate more air pressure compared to the 140mm ones. However, 140mm fans can deliver more airflow than 120mm ones and may be used as PC case fans too. If you have got any doubts about choosing the right static pressure fan or their compatibility then ask me your queries by leaving a comment below.
