Best High Airflow Fan for PC Case [High CFM Fan 120mm / 140mm]

If you want the best cooling performance for your components inside the PC case then you need high airflow fans in your computer case. These high airflow fans move a lot of air and they do a great job of cooling your precious components inside the case. High airflow fans are not the quietest ones because of their higher RPM, they tend to make more noise compared to the quiet case fans that have relatively lower airflow, lower fan speed, or RPM. There are also static pressure fans that generate high static pressure and are used on radiators, heatsinks, or in restricted environments only. High static pressure fans may or may not generate high airflow, and even if they do then airflow is more focused with greater force so that air can penetrate the small spaces and between the fins of the heatsink so that it can be cooled down quickly. On the other hand, airflow fans are used as case fans, both as intake and exhaust fans and their main job is to move a large volume of hot air out from the case which is generated inside the case due to components (GPU, CPU, RAM, HDD, etc.), but if it is used as an intake fan then it has to bring a large volume of cool air into the case.

The airflow of computer fans is measured in Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM). It is defined as the volume of the air (in cubic feet) moved by the fan in one minute. Higher the CFM value of the fan, the more air it will move in an open surrounding with no obstructions. Therefore, a high airflow fan is also known as a high CFM fan. Generally, fans with 70 CFM or higher airflow move a good amount of air and are labeled as high airflow fans. There are computer fans with 100 CFM or higher airflow too that delivers the best cooling performance, and are mostly used in servers or harsh environments. You may also find 200 CFM or higher airflow computer fans but they are not very common and tends to generate a huge amount of noise. High airflow fans or high CFM fans can be used in big computer cases, server cases, and GPU mining rigs. I have already discussed the best static pressure fans and quiet case fans earlier in this blog, but here I am going to list down the best 120mm and 140mm high CFM computer fans for ultimate cooling performance for your computer case and internal components. Some of these below-mentioned high CFM fans generate good static pressure too and can also be used on water cooling radiators and heatsinks.

Noiseblocker NB-eLoop B14-3 Fan

Noiseblocker NB-eLoop B14-3 is a 140mm Bionic Loop Fan from Blacknoise, which is a German company that makes high-quality computer and industrial fans. This premium quality fan comes with Magnetic bearing and Bayer Makrolon rotor with anti-dust technology. It uses a 3-pin connector fan and spins at a constant speed of 1400 RPM. It generates airflow of 105 CFM, static pressure of 1.57 mmH2O, and has a pretty decent noise level rating of 28.7 dBA. It is amazing to see how a fan with such lower RPM can generate 100+ CFM airflow by using advanced technologies and optimized design.

Blacknoise-Noiseblocker-NB-eLoop-B14-3-Fan

The fan has a rather unique blade design as the blade tips are connected or joined to one another for extra rigidity. This also helps in reducing blade flex and the noise generated due to it. Also, all four corners of this fan use some kind of silicone or rubber padding to reduce vibrations and noise. The built quality of this fan is amazing as it features a weighted reinforced fiberglass PBT frame and high-quality materials.

One slight drawback of this fan is that it is a little bit thicker at 29m, as the standard PC fans are only 25mm thick. This is not a major issue but it is worth mentioning if you are having a tight clearance in your case. The fan is 100% designed and made in Germany. It is generally suited as a PC case fan but may also be used on radiators and heatsinks since it has a respectable static pressure figure. It comes only in one color scheme which is a black frame with white fan blades. The fan is not cheap but if you don’t want to compromise on performance and quality and want a silent high airflow fan with an advanced design then it is worth it.

Final Words

Having a high airflow fan does improve the overall cooling performance of the case and of the internal components. However, you have to compromise a little bit on the noise levels. These high CFM PC fans may not be the quietest performers because of their higher RPM but they are capable of moving or pushing a lot of air. Yes, there are a couple of high airflow fans that are pretty silent and have noise level ratings below 30 dBA, but they are generally more expensive and may fall short on performance compared to higher RPM fans. Above, I have listed the best high airflow fans for all budgets and for all performance levels so that you can choose accordingly. Also, most of the above-mentioned high airflow fans have high static pressure too which means they are dual-purpose fans and can be used on heatsinks and radiators too. If you have any queries or having trouble selecting the right high airflow CFM fan for your needs then feel free to ask me by leaving a comment below.
