Slim AIO Coolers for SFF Cases [Thin Radiator Liquid CPU Coolers]

When it comes to CPU Cooling then AIO Liquid CPU Coolers are mostly preferred over CPU Air Coolers because of their better cooling performance, aesthetics, and their ability to fit in smaller PC Cases where tall or dual tower CPU Coolers won’t fit. However, in certain situations or with some small form factor or regular PC Cases, fitting a regular AIO of the right size can be a little tight or it may not fit at all. The main reason for this issue is because of the thickness of the fan and radiator. Almost all AIOs in the market come with a 27mm or thicker radiator and 25mm thick fans, whether there are 120mm or 140mm fans.

Radiator-Thickness

This is a non-official standard set in the industry and it is tough to find an AIO that comes with a 25mm or thinner Radiator. However, there are thinner radiators available for setting up a custom liquid cooling solution but putting up a custom water cooling solution would be quite expensive and requires quite a bit of technical know-how. To tackle this problem, the best solution is to either use a low-profile CPU Air Cooler for SFF Cases or use a Slim AIO CPU Cooler that can fit easily in both mini-ITX and standard Cases that have tight clearance for the radiator. So, to help you on this, I am listing down the few available slim AIO Coolers that you can get for your SFF build.

Slim AIO CPU Coolers having  Thin Radiators & Fans

Below are the best slim AIO CPU Liquid Coolers that you can get for your SFF build.

SilverStone VIDA 240 Slim AIO CPU Cooler

[Thin Radiator & Slim Fans, ARGB Lighting, Good Performance]

SilverStone VIDA 240 Slim is the thinnest or slimmest AIO Liquid CPU Coolest you can find on the market right now. It is a 240mm AIO that comes with a thin 22mm Radiator and dual slim 120mm fans having a thickness of only 16mm. The total thickness of the Aluminum Radiator plus Fans is 38mm which is quite thin compared to regular or standard AIO Coolers having a thickness of 52mm or higher.

The pump of this slim AIO Cooler is integrated within the radiator to save space and it also helps in reducing noise. The AIO comes with a rotatable CPU Block that allows you to adjust the orientation without having to look for clearance. The CPU Water Block is also quite slim because the pump has been shifted on the radiator. The slim Water Block also allows you to install taller RAM modules without getting in the way of the CPU Water Block. The 120mm slim fans come with a 9-blade design and are optimized for high static pressure and airflow. Each fan can generate airflow of up to 66.83 CFM and static pressure of up to 2.59 mm H2O which are very good figures for 16mm thick 120mm fans. The fans are pretty quiet at low to moderate speeds but can get noisier at higher speeds.

When it comes to performance the SilverStone VIDA 240 Slim AIO CPU Cooler can handle high-end Intel or Processors up to 285W of load capacity. You can even run an Intel Core i9 13900K on it but overclocking should be avoided. Processors lower in the lane like Core i7, Core i5, and Ryzen 5 can run comfortably on this AIO with low to medium amount of overclocking. Any day, it offers much better cooling performance than the low-profile CPU Air Coolers that are designed for SFF and mini-ITX Cases.  Regarding compatibility, SilverStone VIDA 240 Slim can fit most of the small form factor and mini-ITX Cases (like FormD T1, Thor Zone MJOLNIR, etc.)  where fitting a standard thickness AIO Cooler is very difficult. The AIO CPU Cooler also features ARGB LED lighting that can be seen on the fans and water block. The build quality of the AIO is pretty good, it comes with sleeved tubings that are 40mm long and supports popular and modern Intel and AMD CPU Sockets including Intel LGA 1700 and AMD AM5 Sockets. So, if you are looking for a super slim 240mm AIO for your SFF build then it is the best option available.

How to make a Standard Size AIO Liquid CPU Cooler Thinner

If you cannot find these above-mentioned slim AIO CPU Coolers, you can make a standard-sized AIO Cooler slimmer by installing slim 120/140mm fans on it. Here, you have to get a good AIO Cooler with a 27mm thick radiator and then install pressure-optimized slim fans on it. For example, if you have bought a 240mm AIO Cooler with a 27mm thick radiator then you can install two slim 120mm fans on it can reduce the thickness of AIO to quite an extent. The standard 120mm/140mm fans are 25mm thick and installing slim 120mm/140mm fans (15mm thick) can reduce the overall thickness of the AIO by 10mm which is quite substantial.

Final Words

Well, there is no doubt that there are only quite a few slim AIO CPU Coolers available in the market, and finding them in stock or market is also quite difficult. A 240mm AIO Cooler offers the best balance between cooling performance and compatibility with a wide range of PC Cases including SFF and Mini-ITX ones. Slim AIO Coolers may not be that useful for users with standard ATX Cases but they are a boon and a lifesaver for SFF builds where fitting a standard-sized AIO having a 27mm thick radiator with 25mm thick fans is quite challenging and, in some cases, impossible.
