Successfully updated to windows 7 pro by going to a ATI RADEON AH3450/DI/512MD2(LP)
graphics card. But the HD AUDIO CONTROLLER driver didn’t install due to Not Enough Resources
code 12.
I have 2GB memory as well…..maximum for this MB.
ASUS support recommend I get another video card like HD4350 or above to resolve this
driver problem.
The video works and don’t notice any problems except youtube videos aren’t smooth!
I’ve updated BIOS to current version.
I also bought a newer CPU which is AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400 2.2 GHz dual core. Happy with that speed improvement.

I think it is a driver issue because the card is very old and lacks support for modern operating systems. I don’t recommend installing Windows 10 on this hardware with only 2GB RAM and older video card.

Well, AGP cards are difficult to find these days. I don’t see any point in getting a graphics card for such an old system unless you are facing some hardware issues with your onboard graphics. However, if you are keen on upgrading to a discrete card then I think GeForce 6200 or GeForce FX 5200 are good choices.
I can find them on ebay, just funny that the AGP cards are actually about 5 times more than their PCIe counterparts at the time. I just wanted to make sure that my kids could play Minecraft, Cuphead, SonicMania, simple stuff like that. I don’t want them to mess my PC up since I use it for design work and for more intensive gaming.

The comment is that I have an old desktop PC with INTEL D865 PERLL motherboard, INTEL PENTIUM 4 microprocessor (3Ghz), 3.5 GB DDR400 RAM, an EVGA GeForce 6200 256mb GPU, which I always used with Windows XP … and I installed Windows 7 a few weeks ago, but the video card freezes randomly and I have to restart the PC by force.

The first driver I installed was 309.08 (the last one that came out), but since it gave problems, after researching, many people said on the web that they solved the issue with the latest driver exclusively for AGP cards (96.85 winVista), and that is the one I have installed today.

Those are for the normal PCIe cards, not the agp variant. I ended up finding them through some internet forums digging, and unfortunately while the Windows XP ones work amazingly, the Windows 7 ones are extremely buggy and don’t work right at all. They work beautifully if you don’t do anything too demanding, but if you try to do anything that’s demanding, anything using full 3D graphics or any video playback, it gets all sorts of graphical glitches, and then totally craps itself and the graphics driver locks up. Sometimes it restarts the graphics driver and fixes itself, but most of the time I have to restart the computer, and if you’re still doing any of those things when it does fix itself, it is very likely to break again.

These are the drivers I found from digging. The xp 32 bit works just fine, the Windows 7 32 bit though, is the glitchy one. I’ll see if the second link you sent works, but this is what I was able to achieve so far.
I have an old computer than I only use for my old flight simulators such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, which was made for Windows 95. And several other of my old flight sims that were made for Windows 95. The computer is a Compaq Presario S3310CL, Micro ATX, with Windows XP, ver 2002, with service pack 3. Motherboard is a MS-6577 ver 2. Processor is a Pentium 4 (Northwood) with 2.53 GHz. It is 1.5 volt. It has 504MB of RAM. Also the chipset is Intel 845. I do not have a graphics card installed in the AGP slot. I downloaded a manual for the motherboard and it said it supports 1.5v AGP 4X interface. (But warned not to use 3.3v AGP 2X interface) I see lots of AGP cards on Ebay but not sure which to go with. My system is a 32-bit and many of the cards on Ebay are for 64-bit systems. And many of the cards for sale do not show which bit they are. My question is do you think a graphics card will help with these old flight sims and how do I know before I buy it, whether a particular card is 32-bit or 64-bit, and will a particular card work with my system or not. Also which do I go with, the 2X, 4X or 8X card. Thanks
The bit (64-bit etc.) for graphics is for the graphics card’s memory and has nothing to do with 32-bit or 64-bit Operating Systems. You can safely go with AGP 2.0/AGP 3.0 (x4/x8) graphics cards. I think even entry-level AGP graphics cards like GeForce FX 5200 and GeForce 6200 can significantly boost your computer’s gaming performance.

From what I read in the manual, my mother board will support 2GB of RAM and from what I understand I should get 2 sticks of 1GB each. Is it the DDR Dimm I will need and does it matter if it is the single or double sided type. And one other question, what size new hard drive should I go with, and the solid state type or no. Get two sticks of 1GB each for dual channel mode operation for better performance (single/double-sided does not matter). Also, ditch the hard drive and get a 2.5-inch SATA SSD. For SSD, I suggest Samsung Evo 860 250GB/500GB.

. I remember l going into The Soho Soundhouse near Denmark Street in London and seeing these PC Front Panel with the Transport Control on and MIDI Mixer Controllers . Inside the cases , they used differing Motherboards . The ones that I have , have A D845BG IDE only motherboard , and a , ASrock 775i65GV more modern does both IDE and SATA .
