GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is a new entrant in the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 graphics card series and is targeted towards mainstream users who game mostly game at 1080p resolution with all graphics settings set to maximum. When talking about the upgrade from the previous RTX 30 series, we can say that RTX 4060 Ti is a successor of the RTX 3060 Ti. RTX 4060 Ti sits below the RTX 4070 in the GeForce RTX 40 series and comes with almost all the features you can find in the cards higher in the series. The card is targeted for 1080p gaming (at Max settings) but is quite capable of 1440p gaming too at high settings. The main competitors of the RTX 4060 Ti are the RTX 3060 Ti and Radeon RX 6700 XT from AMD. So, if you want to know how RTX 4060 Ti stands against its closest competitors then you can find this answer in the comparison below.
RTX 4060 Ti (8GB) vs RX 6700 XT vs RTX 3060 Ti Comparison
Below is a quick comparison between RTX 4060 Ti (8GB), RX 6700 XT, and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards based on their specifications, performance, pricing, power consumption, and features.
GPU Architecture
RTX 4060 Ti is built on the latest Ada Lovelace GPU architecture and is built on the TSMC 5nm manufacturing process. The card uses a slightly cut-down version of the AD106 GPU Chip which has already been used in the mobile RTX 4070 at full potential with all Cores unlocked. The card comes with 4352 CUDA Cores, 34 RT Cores (3rd Gen.), and 136 Tensor Cores (4th Gen.).
On the other hand, RTX 3060 Ti is built on the relatively older Ampere architecture on an 8nm manufacturing process and comes with 4864 CUDA Cores, 38 RT Cores (2nd Gen.), and 152 Tensor Cores (3rd Gen.). It should be noted that although RTX 4060 Ti comes with lesser Cores but the performance of higher generation CUDA Cores, RT Cores, and Tensor Cores is better than older generation ones.
AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is built on the RDNA 2 architecture on a 7nm fabrication process. The card uses Navi 22 XT GPU and comes with 2560 Stream Processors, 40 Ray Accelerators, or RT Cores and there are no Tensor Cores present on this card.

Video RAM [VRAM]
RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 3060 Ti come with 8GB GDDR6 memory but have different memory bus widths and memory speeds. RTX 4060 Ti comes with a 128-bit memory interface and has a memory speed of 18 Gbps delivering bandwidth of 288 GB/s. On the other hand, RTX 3060 Ti comes with a 256-bit interface with a memory speed of 14 Gbps and delivers memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. On the other hand, RX 6700 XT comes with 12GB GDDR6 memory having a 192-bit interface. The memory runs at 16 Gbps speed and generates bandwidth of 384 GB/s. However, with the use of ultra-high-speed 96MB Infinity cache present on the GPU, RX 6700 XT can achieve a peak memory bandwidth of up to 1278 GB/s.
Note: RTX 3060 Ti also comes with GDDR6X memory (8GB) with a 256-bit interface and a memory speed of 19 Gbps. It delivers a memory bandwidth of 608 GB/s which is significantly higher than the original GDDR6 model.

Features
All three graphics cards are equipped with the latest technologies and support DirectX 12 Ultimate, OpenGL 4.6, and Vulkan and support variable refresh rate technologies (G-Sync/FreeSync) to reduce stuttering in games for a butter smooth gaming experience, PCIe 4.0, Real-Time Ray Tracing, HDMI 2.1, AV1 Decode, AV1 Encode (RTX 4060 Ti). While all other cards support PCIe 4.0 x16, RTX 4060 Ti is limited to PCIe 4.0 x8 lanes only which translates to reduced PCI-Express bandwidth especially with motherboards supporting up to PCIe 3.0 interface only.
When it comes to image upscaling technology to increase performance or FPS in games, RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 3060 Ti support DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling). RTX 4060 Ti supports the latest version of DLSS which is DLSS 3 while RTX 3060 Ti supports DLSS 2. On the other hand, Radeon RX 6700 XT supports AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) as its image upscaling technology.

Final Thoughts
I think if RTX 4060 Ti was priced right then it could have been a very good card for both 1080p and 1440p gaming. Moreover, most mainstream tech reviewers think the card should be priced 100 USD below its official MSRP which is 400 USD. Also, the gains it has over the older RTX 3060 Ti and RX 6700 XT cards are not significant. The major advantage of RTX 4060 Ti is its significantly lower power consumption compared to its competitors. However, if you don’t care about power consumption then RX 6700 XT is a great choice because with it you will get 4GB extra VRAM (12GB total) and also it can be found much cheaper.
