GeForce RTX 5080 is the second graphics card released by Nvidia after the flagship GeForce RTX 5090. GeForce RTX 5080 sits below the RTX 5090 in the GeForce RTX 50 series and is one of the world’s most powerful consumer graphics cards. It is an excellent card for 4K gaming and is around 10 percent faster than the RTX 4080 SUPER and up to 12 percent faster than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX from AMD. Comparing it with Nvidia’s previous flagship, i.e., RTX 4090, RTX 5080 is, on average, only 12 percent slower but with much lower price and power consumption.
GeForce RTX 5080 uses Nvidia’s latest Blackwell GPU architecture on a 5nm TSMC manufacturing process. It uses GB203 GPU chip and has 10752 CUDA Cores, 84 RT Cores (4th Generation), and 336 Tensor Cores (5th Generation). It comes with 16 GB GDDR7 memory with a 256-bit interface. The memory runs at a speed of 30 Gbps and generates a bandwidth of 960 GB/s. The card supports DirectX 12 Ultimate, OpenGL 4.6, Vulkan 1.4, PCI-Express 5.0, Real-Time Ray Tracing, HDMI 2.1b, DisplayPort 2.1b, G-Sync/FreeSync, AV1 Hardware Encoding/Decoding, Deep Learning Super Sampling 3 (DLSS 4). The maximum power consumption of the card is rated at 360W (for reference model), and the card uses the new 16-pin 12VHWPR connector for power.
Best Value RTX 5080
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 WINDFORCE OC SFF 16G
[Excellent Value, Compact or SFF Design, Dual-BIOS, Clean Design, Runs Cool and Quiet, NO RGB]
If you are looking for an RTX 5080 card that offers an excellent price-to-performance ratio, then it is Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 WINDFORCE OC SFF 16G. It is a no-nonsense RTX 5080 card with great performance, has all the necessary features, and is priced very competitively (close to or equal to the official base MSRP). Moreover, it is a smaller form factor (SFF) RTX 5080 card with relatively compact dimensions. It has a clean design and does not come with RGB LED lighting. The card comes overclocked from the factory with a GPU Boost Clock of 2670 MHz, 53 MHz more than the reference model. The WINDFORCE cooling system on this card uses an aluminum heatsink with a vapor chamber baseplate and seven heatpipes. The heatsink is cooled by three Hawk fans (with unique fan blade design) that spin in alternate directions to reduce air turbulence and improve airflow. The 3D Active Fan provides semi-passive cooling where the fans will remain off when the GPU temperature is on the lower side, and the fans start automatically when the GPU temperature increases with load, especially when playing games. The card comes with dual BIOS, Performance (default), and Silent, and you can switch between these modes using a physical switch on the side of the card.
The card is relatively smaller than RTX 5080 custom models. It is 304mm in length and has a 2.2-slot design. A metal backplate with vents (for airflow) protects the card, provides the card rigidity, and helps with cooling. A vertical VGA Holder comes bundled with the card. The Graphics Card Holder prevents sagging and reduces any risk of damage to the card and PCIe slot due to the bending of the card. Using the GIGABYTE CONTROL CENTER (GCC), you can adjust clock speed, voltage, fan mode, and power target in real time and customize other card settings. The card requires one 16-pin 12V-2×6 connector and 850W power supply for power. Display connectivity options include one HDMI 2.1b port and three DisplayPort 2.1b ports.
