[Super Silent Performer, Great Looks, Semi-Passive Cooling]
If you are in a hunt for a silent GTX 1660 SUPER card that also looks great and offers great performance then it is MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X. The card uses the MSI famous TWIN FROZR Thermal Design 7 cooling system that offers great cooling performance. Hello,
Thank you for your great articles. My computer is an H370 with an i7-8700 and 8Gb DDR 2666. My current graphics card is the GTX 1050. I would like a nice graphic card for use in PS CS6 and a soon to purchase Capture One 20. My new catalog will be less than 10,000 photos. I rarely edit more than a dozen photos at a time from my 24 megapixel camera. Is an upgrade to the 1660 Super overkill.
Regards, Mike
GTX 1660 is kinda overkill for you. I think you should go for the newer GTX 1650 SUPER and here are some of the best ones https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/.
Thank you! I will take your advise. BTW, your quick and thoughtful response is greatly appreciated.
Mike
You are most welcome.
Hi I currently use a Pentium G4560 and plan on swapping to a Ryzen 5 2600x / 7 2700x in the next months. Would you recommend getting the GTX 1660 Super now even if the bottleneck will be insane or should I pick up a different GPU or even the CPU first?
For Ryzen 5 2600X / Ryzen 7 2700X, GTX 1660 SUPER should be perfectly fine.
my computer is a fx 8350, 16gb or ram. do i get the 1660 super or the 1650 super?
You are better off with the GTX 1650 SUPER only because FX 8350 will be a significant bottleneck for the GTX 1660 SUPER.
Hello,
I have a computer with the following specifications:
Processor Ryzen 3 3200g
Motherboard Asrock B450 Steel Legend
PSU FSP Hexa + II 500W
RAM Corsair Vengeance (8×2) 16GB DDR4
HDD WDC blue 1Tb
can I use the GTX 1660 Super graphics card? Do I have to replace the PSU?
Sorry for being a newbie. And don’t know anything about computers.
thanks.
Yes you can use GTX 1660 Super and you don’t have to change the PSU for it.
Thank you,
You are most welcome.
Hello,
Thanks for your efforts and informative explanations. I am not a gamer nor video/photo editor, however I wanna build a high end pc for simulation purposes and a little of watching some movies through YouTube/Netflix. I wanna use a TV instead of monitor for a larger workspace. I am thinking about buying a GDDR6 Graphics card for faster memory. Based on that:
Which graphics card do you recommend for me?
Should I choose a specific graphic card to match with 60 Hz 4K TV, so I could avoid a delay between writing on keyboard, and showing that on this TV, if that might happen?
If I connect 2 HDMI cables from one graphic card to one TV, would that be applicable for doubling data transfer between them?
Sorry for these newbie questions, I appreciate a lot your time for replying. Thanks in advance.
You can go for the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP. You have to connect only one HDMI cable to the monitor because the card supports HDMI 2.0b which means it can run 4K @ 60Hz easily.
Thank you very much
Hi Akshat,
I’m currently have PC with i7-6700K 16GB RAM and VGA is GTX 980ti.
right now my GTX 980ti has gone forever (So I need to buy a replacement one).
Now I’m considering for some budget VGA like 1660super.
Could you please recommend me that my PC will have no problem with 1660super.
Moreover I’d like to know your opinion between 1660super and 1660ti.
I’ve heard that 1660super comes with GDDR6 while 1660ti comes with GDDR5.
Thanks in advance.
You should be fine with GTX 1660 SUPER and I think it is a good match for your system. GTX 1660 Ti comes with more CUDA Cores (128 CUDA Cores more) than GTX 1660 SUPER and is a bit faster. However, GTX 1660 SUPER is equipped with faster GDDR6 memory and is a better value for money card over the GTX 1660 Ti. So, I think GTX 1660 SUPER is a better choice.
Thank you so much for your kindness feedback. I will go with 1660 super 🙂
i have i5 3570, 8gb ram and 500W is 1660 super ok?
Yes it is okay but I think it is a little too good for your CPU. If you only game at 1080p then GTX 1650 SUPER is a great choice and also you can upgrade your RAM to 16B with the money saved. Frankly, 8GB is not enough for modern day titles.
Hi I have an XPS 13 i7-10510U, 16GB ram, and am planning to hook up a Razer Core X Chroma so I do not foresee space being an issue.
Would you advise on a 1660 Super? And which model? Are older graphics cards like the 1070 expected to become cheaper and a better option?
Yes GTX 1660 SUPER is a very good choice for both 1080p gaming (1440p too) and work. The specific models that I would like to suggest are ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP and Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G. Regarding older graphics cards like GTX 1070, you can get it used at cheaper rates but it is a time consuming and risky process.
Hi i have a pc with this specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 3400G
ASROCK A320M-HDV R4.0 Motherboard
8gb ram
FSP Hyper K 80+ 600W PSU
Any gpu recommendations?
I would suggest GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER for 1080p gaming (https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/) and if you want something more powerful then it is GTX 1660 SUPER. I also suggest you to upgrade your RAM to 16GB as 8GB is not enough for modern day gaming, especially in year 2020.
Hi. I am planning on building a pc mainly for video editing. No games. Going to use Ryzen 3 3700/3990x 64 gbs 3200 ram on x570 board. Is a 1660 super a good choice as a mid level card? Mostly 1070p video but some 4k video and some Blender testing. Trying to save some money. Thank you for your help.
Yes, GTX 1660 SUPER is a great choice as an affordable mid-range card and will serve your purpose very well whether it is for 1080p or basic 4K video editing.
Good day!
I have the ff parts:
AMD ryzen 5 2600

which one should i go for? thank you in advance
I did not get you. Are you asking about graphics card?
yes, sorry about that
Go for the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G.
thank youuu!
which 1660 super would you recommend?
I would say Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G or ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP. Both are very good and offer great value for the money. If you have a smaller case then go with the Zotac one.
What do you think of the Asus TUF version of this card?
Not good because it has heating issues.
Thanks a bunch really helped me because there is not a lot of reviews on the card so thank you so much I really appreciate it mate
No worries!
Hi there. I’m just wondering which version of the 1660 super would be best forme
I’ve got the ryzen 5 2600x
Msi x470 gaming plus MAX
Thermaltake Smart 650 80+ bronze
16gb XPG Gammix 3200mhz RAM
Firecuda 3.5 inch 2tb storage
And 5 cooling fans in my corsair carbide spec 04
I figured the 1660 super would be the best kind of graphics card to avoid bottlenecking and also do decent overclocking in the future, but I’d like to know which you’d recommend? Thanks in advance!
I would say Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G or ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP.
Is MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X a good choice to buy?
Yes it is a very good card but a bit pricier than other models.

Hello Askhat, apparently my cousin bought the cooler master mwe 450w 230v (80+). So in your opinion what build should I be going to?
I did not get your question. Can you please clarify.
Apparently I got a Cooler Master MWE 450W from my cousin, i really would like to know which build should I get for 1080p high or ultra setting. Does the PSU going to support my current plan? Which part should I change so that I could still use that PSU. Thanks Akshat.
I don’t think you have to change anything as this 450W PSU should be sufficient.
Thank you for your opinion Akshat

Yes you can use GTX 1660 Super or GTX 1660 Ti graphics card with your PC. I suggest you to go for the GTX 1660 SUPER.
Do you thing EVGA 1660 Super good? Compared to MSI or Gigabyte? Less cheaper than the latter.
Which version, single fan or dual fan?
Hi, i’m building a ryzen 5 3600 pc and i would like to know if in your opinion is better the ZOTAC GAMING GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER AMP! or the GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER OC more or less at the same price (250€ and 240 respectively)
Both are very good cards and you cannot go wrong with any one of them. However, my personal choice would be ZOTAC GAMING GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER AMP because of its smaller size and higher clock speeds.
thanks

Do you want me to give you the complete build or to change some parts in the build that you have made?
Hi, thank u for the reply.
If your build is totally different from mine then give me a new build. Else, just change those parts that u think need to be change.
Here is the build from my side:
Ryzen 5 3600 Processor
MSI B450 Tomahawk Motherboard
Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black CPU Cooler
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16GB 3200MHz Memory or the Crucial Memory you have chosen
Samsung 860 Evo 2.5-inch 250GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G Graphics Card
EVGA 600W 80 Plus White PSU
Corsair Carbide 275R Tempered Glass Mid-Tower Gaming Case
Hello Akshat,
Here is my configuration (PC Midi Tower) :
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra (ATX – AM4)
RAM Memory : 2 x 8 GB => 2 x 16 GB ? (DDR4) Version 2’666 or 3’200 ?
Power supply : 650 W => 550 W ?
Usage : Pictures processing 40%, office automation 20%, online games (WOT) 35% and other games 5%.
At the beginning I wanted to choose a graphics card with a PCI Express 4 version and I turned to the RX 5500 XT range or possibly RX 5600 XT, my choice was the Sapphire Radeon RX 5500 XT Pulse version 4Gb or possibly 8Gb.
List of my possibilities in graphic card AMD RX 5500 XT or RX 5600 XT :
ASUS Radeon DUAL RX 5500 XT O8G EVO (8 Go)
Gigabyte Radeon RX 5500 XT OC (8 Go)
Gigabyte Radeon RX 5500 XT GAMING OC-8GD (8 Go)
Gigabyte Radeon RX 5600 XT WINDFORCE OC (6 Go)
Sapphire Radeon RX 5500 XT Pulse – 4 Go ou 8 Go
Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 Go)
Sapphire Radeon RX 5600 XT Pulse (6 Go
However, after research on the Internet and on the forums, the advice was to go with a Nvidia range and not AMD for the graphics card with an AMD brand GPU.
So I started looking at Nvidia’s GTX 1660 Super or “Ti” range.
List of my possibilities in GTX 1660 Super or “Ti” graphics card :
ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC (6 Go) (Dual Evo OC ?)
ASUS GeForce ROG STRIX GTX1660S A6G (6 Go)
ASUS GeForce ROG STRIX GTX1660S 6G (6 Go)
ASUS GeForce GTX 1660S ROG STRIX O6G (6 Go) (ROG Strix Gaming ?)
Gainward GeForce GTX 1660Super Ghost (6 Go) (Ou version “Ti” Pegasus ?)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660S OC (6 Go)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660S Gaming OC (6 Go)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super Mini ITX OC (6 Go)
Inno3D GeForce GTX 1660 Super Twin X2 (6 Go)
Inno3D Geforce GTX 1660 Super Twin X2 OC RGB (6 Go)
PNY GeForce GTX 1660 Ti XLR8 (6 Go)
PNY GeForce GTX 1660 TI XLR8 Gaming OC Edition (6 Go)
But given the number of possibilities and with very variable prices, it is very difficult to make a choice, starting with the number of fans.
One person explained to me that it was better to take a graphics card with only one fan to completely clear the air intake and the radiator of the chipset and thus be able to put it in silent mode without apprehension. (In order to spare the potentially fragile fan of the motherboard). There is no drawback to having only one fan for “small” GPUs and still according to him, 2 fans or the “blackplate” are not essential on this kind of GPU and even less 3 fans. The ventilation of the case is therefore an important point, and we will get better results with a closed case, which forces the airflow. Obviously graphics cards that overlap the chipset don’t help.
He bought the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super Mini ITX OC (6GB) rather expensive but with only 1 fan!
Thank you in advance very much for your help in choosing the right graphics card, with one, two or three fans? And above all which brand and model !?
And also for what ideal capacity of RAM memory? Which frequency to choose? And also the power supply power ?
Because I really can’t make up my mind and my skills are not great enough in these areas.
With my best regards.
Looking at your system specs and requirements, I think GTX 1660 SUPER would be great for you. Well, a graphics card doesn’t affect the case ventilation, unless you have a really small case with bad airflow design. I suggest you to go with the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G which is a very good dual fan card with semi-passive cooling functionality and is pretty silent in operation. For RAM, 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3000MHz or 3200MHz is what you should go with and for power supply, a good branded 550W PSU is enough but you can with the 650W too if you have no issues with the budget and want to be more futureproof.
Thank you very much for your top-notch service. I can now order the appropriate components.
Wishing you a great day and with my best regards.
Philippe
Thank you for your kind words and you are always welcome.
Why are there no cards with dvi and dvi-d in that whole list? The whole point of those cards is the ability to use them on old monitors.
You can find DVI-D in MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AERO ITX OC which is a small form factor GTX 1660 SUPER card. For others, you can use DVI to HDMI cable.
Hi, i have a system with Ryxen 5 1600, ASUS B450, 16gb ram and seasonic 620.
Would you go for1660 Super or 1660 ti and why?
Thanx
I would go for the GTX 1660 SUPER because it is a better bang for your bucks and is only 3% to 6% slower than GTX 1660 Ti.
Found your reviews very helpful in their comparisons – best card for certain tasks but at the moment the recommended Gigabyte card is out of stock at lots of places but how does the ASUS GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER DUAL EVO OC 6GB currently in stock at same price compare. What is the downside of going for that or should I just wait.
It is a decent card and performs similar to other cards. However, it is not that great looking and has only three output ports (DVI, HDMI, DP).
i have a ryzen 7 2700, gigabyte b450m ds3h ,16gb ram 3000mhz ,rosewill arc-550w plus bronze.
i like the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC Edition because of good reviews and to compare with Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G what do you recommend i get im torn between price for performance and effective value, more insight would be some help i dont care for that one is a couple bucks more i just to get the “better one”
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC Edition has better cooler and overall build quality. It also comes with metal backplate, RGB lighting and has higher clocks. If price is not an issue then go with the Asus.
thanks needed another opinion ,thanks for the insight
Gddr5 vs Gddr6 on the 1660 super 6g.Is there much difference on the features.building ryzen 7 3700x with 32gb of ram.The Gddr6 is quite expensive to the Gddr5.What is the best budget with performance route to take with the 1660 super.
I did not get your question. Please explain clearly.
I mean is a there a difference for me to go with the 1660 card that has Gddr5 or stay with gddr6.
You should fine with GTX 1660 for 1080p gaming. It is around 10% to 12% slower than GTX 1660 SUPER.
Thanks Akshay.

Akshat Verma,
Can you give a idea about colorful brand. Mainly there build quality.
It is a very respectable brand and one of the top graphics cards brands in China. If you have no issue with it then I would suggest getting Colorful iGame GeForce GTX 1660 Super Ultra 6GB-V. It is a big longer but has good build quality.
Hi, I have a ryzen 5 2400g with 16 GB of RAM at 3000 MHz right now and i use no graphics card, so I was thinking about getting a 1660 super to upgrade my system.
Wich One Is the best choice for me (possibly a cheap one) and Is It gonna bottleneck with my CPU?
I would suggest ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Twin Fan or Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G.
Hello Akshat,
I recently upgraded to an I7-4790K cpu with a Gammaxx 400 cpu cooler, 16GB DDR2, gt 620 card , and Thermaltake 600W PSU, all stuffed into a mini tower. I currently can’t close the side panel because the cpu cooler is sticking out . Is it ok to leave the panel open like this?
I do work on this PC but would also like to play pc games on it, like Desert of Kharrak and the remastered Homeworld 2. My video card is not up to task though and I would really like to upgrade that.
I was looking at the RX 570 because it seems to have pretty good performance for the price. However when I read about the GTX 1660 Super it seems to perform much better than the RX 570.
I noticed that the RX 570 require much more power than the 1660 Supers, so I am concerned about heat in a mini tower. I was wondering would the 1660 Super be a better choice for me, even though my cpu is pretty darn old at this point?
Thank you in advance,
David
What case (brand & model) do you have? I would suggest you to get GTX 1650 SUPER instead as it is a right match for your system. It has lower power consumption and performs equal or a bit better compared to RX 580. Here are some of the best GTX 1650 Cards https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/
Hi Akshat,
I appreciate your response. My mini tower case has the logo GenuinePC, it might be an average generic case. I plan on upgrading to a mid tower in a few months. Thank you for the recommendation, I didn’t even know Nvidia released a 1650 super until I read your reply. Nvidia sure has released a lot of entry/mid level cards recently! Sometimes it feels like they are competing with their own models, such as the 1660ti and 1660 Super.
Hello, first of All thanks for The great articles! My specs are cpu:i5 3570k mobo:as rock z77 extreme 4 ram:8g gpu: gtx 960 2g power supply: corsair cz 750 watt. LOOK I DONT KNOW YET AS I DONT HAVE THIS PC IT WILL BE A GIFT IF GOT GOOD GRADES THIS YEAR I HAVE A TOTAL BUDGET OF 634:697$ FOR THE WHOLE BUILD INCLUDING MONITOR
THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY
For graphics card, I would suggest GTX 1650 SUPER and for monitor, I would say Acer Nitro QG221Q
Cant I get 1660 super with a less budget monitor?
If your budget allows you to.
ok thanks so much

I think it is a great setup for the price. Try adding 1TB or 2TB Hard drive too (Seagate Barracuda)
Hi Akshat, I’m looking for a GTX 1660 or (super) with the words GTX 1660 that have light up led.
Or RGB ability.
Can you tell me which ones do this? Thanks. Timothy
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X has RGB LEDs and is a very good card.
Hey Akshat, thank you for this article. I am planning on buying a Gtx 1660 Super, but I am not sure which one I should get. I’m considering these four: 1. 6GB KFA2 GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC GDDR6 2. 6GB KFA2 GeForce GTX 1660 Super EX 192-bit GDDR6 3. 6GB ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1660 Super Gaming AMP 4. GDDR6,3xDP,3xHDMI and the 6GB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING OC 6GD 3xDP/H. It would be much appreciated if you could help me which one I should get. The size doesn’t matter to me.
If size does not matter then get the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING OC 6G. If it is unavailable then go with the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP.
Thank you so much for your help.
Hi Akshat,
I am looking at upgrading my GPU with a 1660 super. I have:
i5-4690K
Asus z97-a motherboard
Corsair cs650m PSU
Currently 8gb RAM but will probably add to that at the same time I upgrade.
Do you have any recommendations for which model?
I would suggest ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Twin Fan.
Thank you 🙂
Dear Akshat, u really make great articles, thanks for being!
Please, your thoughts and suggestions.
Main purpose: video editing/photoshop/3d rendering (low profile)
HP z420
PSU 600W
xeon 2690v2
32-64GB RAM
gtx 1660 super >>> Which one?
Thank you and be blessed
I would suggest ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Twin Fan. If it is not available then go for Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G.
Many thanks!!!
One other advise,
Which monitor with touchscreen is the best to work with in windows 10 for my purposes?
Just have a look at Dell P2418HT.
Hi Akshat,
i am looking to build a PC and would really appreciate if you can recommend me a GPU and Motherboard to pair with a Ryzen 3600
i use my PC to watch shows on netflix, browsing web and play games like battlefield 5, assassin creed oydssey, forza horizon.
– For GPU is 1660 sufficient? or should i go for 2060S or 5700XT (don’t mind spending more to future proof)
– Not sure to pick B450 or X570 board (board that support WIFI will be a plus point) i also saw an article that B550 are releasing soon. Should i wait?
Ashok
For Ryzen 5 3600, I suggest MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX and for graphics card, I would say GTX 1660 SUPER should be enough for your requirements. Here are some of the best ones https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1660-super
Hi Akshat appreicate your quick reply
Can i say 2060S or 5700xt are higher end GPU? for 4k gaming? and running 1080p on them are overkill? is it worth the extra money for this upgrade?
For 1080p gaming, GTX 1660 SUPER is quite enough. For 1440p or even 4K gaming, RTX 2060 SUPER and RX 5700 XT should be preferred.
Hi Akshat, which will you recommend to people a 2060S or 5700XT?
RX 5700 XT is a little faster (around 8% on average) than RTX 2060 SUPER. However, I would go for the RTX 2060 SUPER because of better driver support and its runs cooler and has lower power consumption. Moreover, it supports RTSS (Real Time Ray Tracing) and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling).
Hello Akshat,
you did a very useful review!
I am setting up my pc for computer graphics and rendering software, such as Blender, and KeyShot. But I don’t know which GTX 1660 Super brand to choose. It should be not very noisy, but at the same time stable, which should remain fresh and not go into THERMAL THROTTLING with heavy workloads. Maybe I ask too much!
This is the configuration I would have chosen:
– Main Board: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS
– CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 3.8 GHz Quad-Core or
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core
– RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18
– SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB (already purchased)
– HDD: Toshiba P300 3 TB (already purchased)
– PSU: Enermax 80 Plus Bronze 625W PRO 82+ (many years old but still does its job)
Which brand should I turn to in your opinion?
Thanks in advance!
Go with the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP or MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X.
Hello Akshat, I’m planning on getting a GTX 1660 Super for my current build. These are the specs of my current PC.
Motherboard: Gigabyte b450m ds3h
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 2x8Gb 3200MHZ
GPU: ASUS GTX 960 Strix 2gb OC
PSU: Corsair VS550
In your opinion, which of these GTX 1660 Super brands/models should I go for? Also, will my PSU be enough?
Thank you in advance!
I would suggest ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP or Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G. Your PSU is enough for your system.
Hi
What do you think about AFOX gtx 1660 super ?
Do Afox good brand and have a high quality build material ?
AFOX is a legit Nvidia partner and offer value for money products. I think you can’t go wrong with them and the AFOX GTX 1660 SUPER looks promising.
How good is the Galax 1660 super EX dual fan? Currently Zotac, MSI 1660Super are out of stock. Zotac 1660S amp is also out of stock. So is the galax one good enough? It sits almost close to the price point of the Zotac variant here. Galax is around 10 dollars cheaper here. BTW my cpu is Ryzen 5 3600. Will it bottleneck? Or should i go for Zotac 1650 super?
GALAX GeForce GTX 1660 Super EX looks pretty good. The cooler design looks great with dual fans and heatsink with 3 copper heatpipes, plus it also has a metal backplate. I don’t think it will bottleneck Ryzen 5 3600.
Hello Akshat,
I have a HP Z400 with
W3550 12 GB Ram
475 W power supply
and currently a quadro 2000.
I finally want to upgrade my GPU and i was thinking about either the
1650 Super or the 1660 Super.
I would mainly use it for gaming.
Im looking to upgrade my cpu and ram next, but probably not before a year or so.
Which card would you recommend for my system?
Would you say it is better to save up for a new PC all together and not invest in this build?
Thanks in advance.
I think GTX 1650 SUPER should be enough and is the best match for your build. Here are the best GTX 1650 SUPER cards https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/
Hi Sir
I’m planning build gaming PC
Ryzen 5 3600
MSI b450m pro VDH max
Gigabyte 1660 super
Is it ok from ur side??
Gigabyte 1660 super heating issue ??
No heating issues as such with this card.
It is all good for gaming???
I would suggest a better motherboard, which is MSI B450M MORTAR MAX.
But I’m in budget
Then it is OK.
Ok thanks a lot for reply sir
Gigabyte is it ok for gaming then no issue in future?? Because all say heating issue
Are you buying the two fan or three fan model?
2 fan
Ok, yes it runs a little hotter. If you want lower temperatures the I would suggest ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP or ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Twin Fan.
Sir tell me heat issue, it’s not a matter ???then
I will buy gigabyte 1660 super 2x fan
Not a major issue. It runs a little hotter compared to models with better cooler having more heatpipes.
Because of I’m saving the money last 3 years…
Hello Akshat,
I’m trying to decide between the Gigabyte 1660 SUPER OC 6G and the Gigabyte 1660 SUPER OC GAMING 6G, with 2 or 3 fans respectively. Both fit in my case. Will there be a huge difference in preformance? More importantly, will there be a difference in noise level? I’d like to buy the quieter of the two.
Thanks in advance
You can get a couple of FPS more with the Gigabyte 1660 SUPER OC GAMING 6G (3-fan model). Between these two, I suggest Gigabyte 1660 SUPER OC GAMING 6G (3-fan model) because it has much better heatsink (with three copper heatpipes) and will also run quieter because fans don’t have to spin at higher RPM.
Thanks for the quick reply, do you think the 3-fan model will draw a lot more power than the 2 fan one? I have a 550W PSU currently.
Power consumption will be the same and with 550W PSU, you don’t have to worry about anything.
Very good! Thank you very much for your replies!
Hello Akshat,
I am planning to build a PC with the following specs, please review and modify it accordingly.
Usage – 1080p gaming (Moder AAA titles)
Cabinet – Corsair 100R or Spec-01 (not sure, plz tell)
CPU – AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
Mobo – Gigabyte B450M DS3H
GPU – Gigabyte 1660 Super 6 GB
PSU – Antec NE 550M 80+ Bronze
Storage – Crucial MX500 500GB
RAM – Corsair 8 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ Vengeance (will upgrade to 16 GB later coz I am a little low on budget)
Cooler – Stock
Please tell if there are any changes to be made.
Looks pretty good along with the Corsair Spec 01 case. However, I do suggest upgrading the RAM to 16GB (8GB x 2).
Thanks for the quick reply
btw which gpu do u prefer among the following?
Zotac 1660 Super AMP
Gigabyte 1660 Super Gaming OC
Also which one of the above has better cooling??
Both cards have very good coolers. Zotac 1660 Super AMP stays much cooler during idle too because it does not come with semi-passive cooling while Gigabyte 1660 Super Gaming OC stays much quieter.
Hi, i have a Dell inspiron 3847 and im looking to upgrade my GPU to a GTX 1660 super i dont have much room to work with. do you think the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 8.8″ will fit? i found online that if it`s under 9″ it should fit but im not sure or can you recommend one for me?
Thanks Joe
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER may have clearance issues with Dell inspiron 3847. I suggest you to go with the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Twin Fan.
Thank you for the super fast response. May i ask for your opinion about what will be sufficient power to upgrade to ? I currently have stock 300W.
A 500W to 550W PSU will be enough. I suggest EVGA 500 W1, 80+ WHITE.
Sounds good. Thank you for all the great info. You are the man.
My pc specs-
Processor-i5 7600
GPU-2GB GTX 960 (purchased July 2015)
RAM-16GB x 1 (3000 mhz)
PSU-460W
Mobo-Z270F Gaming
500GB HDD and 120GB SSD
Cabinet-Circle C380
Monitor-24 inch LG LED IPS
Need to upgrade to my gpu. But can’t decide if 2060 super or 1660 super.
Go with the GTX 1660 SUPER only because RTX 2060 SUPER will be seriously bottlenecked by your processor.
I’m stuck between Zotac 1660 super amp boosting upto 1830mhz and also 3 year extended warrenty which makes it a total of 5 years. Another option is Gigabyte 1660 super gaming oc which is the 3x windforce gpu boosting upto 1860 mhz. No additional warrenty but better performance by 2-3 fps.
Help!
Both cards offer almost the same performance and are also similarly priced. If you have a PC case with limited GPU clearance then go with the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP otherwise you can consider Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super Gaming OC.
I will look for gigabyte 1660 super gaming oc 3x windfore as i have deepcool matrexx 50 so it would not be a problem plus gigabyte aftersale service is a bit widespread.
Thanks a lot for you help.
1 more thing, since 8 pin connecter is required. Can we use 2 4pin connecter if your psu doesn’t have an 8pin connector?
Yes you can use dual molex (4-pin) connector to 8-pin PCIe connector for this card but make sure that you have 450W or higher power supply.
Hey, so I have an RX 580 and a Ryzen 5 1600. I was thinking about upgrading to a 1660 SUPER but didn’t know if it would be better for performance over upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600 instead of the GPU. Can you help?
For gaming purpose, you should go with the graphics card upgrade (GTX 1660 SUPER). However, if you are into video editing or want overall better system performance then I think upgrading your CPU is much better (Ryzen 5 3600). Make sure that your motherboard supports 3rd Gen Ryzen processors before making a CPU upgrade.
Wow! Thanks for the fast reply. I think i’ll get a GPU then.
Question that Isn’t directly related to the GPU.
I bought 1660 Super a few months ago for my new pc build, a long with all the other components. My question to you is, with my current setup (as long as I have a monitor that supports 1440) do you think I’d have an issue gaming at that resolution with these specs? Thanks for your reply in advance.
i5 9600K (not overclocked)
GTX 1660 Super Gaming X (not overclocked)
16GB Corsair RGB Pro 3200 mhz
Corsair 550W Gold Fully Modular
Asus Z390 Prime-A
250GB WD Blue Sata SSD / WD Blue 1 Tb mechanical drive
60 Hz 1080p AOC Monitor (planning to upgrade this to 144hz 1080p panel at minimum)
I think you should be fine. Just check the benchmarks at https://graphicscardhub.com/gtx-1660-super-comparison/
Hi Akshat,
You are doing a great job. Which one should I buy “Zotac Gaming Geforce GTX 1660 Super Amp 6GB GDDR6” or I should prefer any other Brand. For 3D Rendering & Video Editing. Do you think is it worth buying RTX 2060 Super right now, as is costs just double that of GTX 1660 Super.
regards,
Sushil
Zotac Gaming Geforce GTX 1660 Super Amp is a very good card and you can go for it. I see no need to buy RTX 2060 SUPER unless you are doing 4K video editing using DaVinci Resolve.
Hi, Please help me which one should I Buy, among these two & why: “INNO3D GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER TWIN X2 OC RGB” & “ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP”.
Thanks in advance 🙂
Both cards are equally good. I would get the INNO3D one because it is cheaper.
hello sir i am building a new pc .i wanted to ask if i5 9400f is good with zotac gtx 1660 ti or should i get a better processor like 9500k
9600k*
Core i5 9400F is quite good enough to go with GTX 1660 Ti.
ty alot sir ..
Hello Sir,
Thinking of upgrading my gpu. Below are my current spec.
Intel: i7-4770
Motherboard : Asus H81 gamer
Gpu: GTX 760
Ram: 2 x 4gb ddr3
Psu: Cx 650am
Willing be using it for gaming, but not those super graphic intensive game. Which gpu would you suggest and do I need to upgrade my ram as well?
Thanks and regard.
I suggest GTX 1650 SUPER and the specific model that I would like to recommend is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 4G (https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/). I also suggest you to upgrade your RAM to 16GB by adding another 8GB stick.
Hi Sir,
Thanks for the quick response. I’m quite a idiot on pc. So do I get 2 x 4gb ram or just 1 x 8gb ram? Total I have 4 slot for ram, slot 2 and slot 4 is used up. Pls advise
Thanks
Get 4GB x 2
Hello,
Am having
Intel: i7-3770K
Motherboard : Asus P8z77-v pro
Ram: 2×4 gb ddr3 1×8 GB – 16gb hyper X furry
Psu: Gigabyte B700H
I have plan to buy Gtx1660 super
Gigabyte have 2 models like 2dual fan and 3 fan. I have concern about zotac Gtx1660 super amp. What you recommend?
Gigabyte or zotac which is better brand. In terms of service and all.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING OC 6G (3-fan) has much better cooling than Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6G. The cooler on ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP is very good and the card is compact too. My personal choice between would be ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP. Both are good brands you can find Giagbyte service a bit more widespread.
I want to pair MSI Gaming x 1660 super with i5 10600k.Is there any chance of bottle neck? What should be my psu wattage?
I don’t think Core i5 10600k will bottleneck GTX 1660 SUPER. You should get a decent 550W PSU like Corsair VS550, Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 550W.
Sir,
I am thinking of antec hcg 650watt.Will it be a good choice? Can you suggest me a cabinet and mobo for this built?
Yes Antec HCG650 Gold is good enough. The case I would suggest is Corsair VS450 and for motherboard I recommend MSI MAG B460M MORTAR WIFI.
Sir,
Can I go with asus z490 plus wifi mobo? Can you suggest a good cabinet please?Thank you in advance.
Do you mean ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI)? Also, what is your budget for the case?
Yes Asus tuf z490 plus.
Cabinet budget:-8000/-(With argb)
Yes you can go with this motherboard. The ARGB case that I would suggest at 8K is Antec NX800.
Thank you very much.
Hi Akshat,
First off big thanks for the article and appreciate you answering all of these questions in the comments section.
I have a relatively old computer and am looking to upgrade my GPU.
Currently I have the following:
Motherboard: MSI MS-7918
PSU: Corsair VS 550 (550W)
CPU: i5-4460
RAM: 8GB
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GT730 (ASUS GT 730 – 2GD3)
I’m looking at to upgrade to one of these GTX 1660 Super options and I’m not sure whether my CPU will be bottleneck. I actually have only been playing one game on my PC which is Football Manager which is not that graphic intensive but my current GPU is nowhere near the standard needed.
My question is would GTX 1660 Super be an overkill or would it be a decent investment that will last me several years (3-4)? Secondly will my CPU be a bottleneck and if so what should I upgrade it to? Lastly I’m assuming 8GB of RAM should be sufficient for now, correct?
Thank you!
Hello,
Your CPU will be bottlenecked by the GTX 1660 SUPER especially in high CPU intensive modern-day games at 1080p resolution. I think GTX 1650 SUPER would be a better choice for your system even though your CPU can still be slightly bottlencked by the this card. 8GB RAM is not enough for modern day games especially if you are using Windows 10 OS, so I suggest you to add another 8GB stick if possible. Here are the best GTX 1650 SUPER cards that you can check out https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/ and https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-gddr6/.
Thanks Akshat
Understood. In this case would upgrading to a GTX 1650 SUPER card be a good investment given that it is only 4GB and perhaps a bit dated? Will it be sufficient for the next 3-4 years?
Or should I consider upgrading my CPU to better handle the demands of the GTX 1660 SUPER?
Noted on the RAM.
CPU Upgrade is a costly affair as you have to upgrade your motherboard and RAM too. For 1080p gaming, I think GTX 1650 SUPER will serve you pretty good for the next 1 or 4 years.
Hello Sir !
Sir i have a Z400 with 475 built in PSU i was hoping to buy gigabyte’s 1660 ti as it looks the best and uses 120W but since its a powerfull card Am really confuse whether i should buy it or no Can u help me with this please
And if i buy it what cheap but awesome Led u know i can buy with it
Thanks.
Well, I think it is better to go for the GTX 1650 SUPER as it has lower power consumption and is quite powerful too. Check at https://graphicscardhub.com/best-gtx-1650-super/ and https://graphicscardhub.com/gtx-1650-super-comparison/. What do you mean by ‘awesome Led’?
Sir i mean to say 2k led if available or should i go with random led
Sir I love 1660 super/ti specs just want to know if i can or cannot install and use in on 475 W PSU
Thanks and regard bro!
A good 1080p 27-inch 144Hz monitor should be enough e.g. Acer Nitro VG270P. Well, you can use a GTX 1660 SUPER with a good 450W PSU.
Last thing what do u recomment 1660 ti or super?
I would say GTX 1660 SUPER.
Hello could you explain whats the difference of 1650 and 1660 gpu? Thanks
GTX 1660 is more powerful and comes with more video memory (6GB GDDR6).
Thanks for your quick response i appreciate it!
Hi,
I’m looking to get GTX 1660 Super, for 4k Video editing.
My system configuration is
Motherboard: Dell DH87MC
PSU: 450W
CPU: i7-4770
RAM: 8GB (planning to add 16gb more along with GPU)
Inbuilt GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4600
Will adding “GTX 1660 Super” be suitable for 4k video editing?
I have another “RTX 2060” also in consideration. Which would you recommend?
Thanks!
For normal to basic 4K video editing, GTX 1660 SUPER should be Ok. For advanced level 4K video editing with complex effects even RTX 2060 will not be enough and you have to get a much higher card with at least 8GB of video memory. For example, RTX 2080 or better.
Thanks for the quick reply. And thanks for the article, very helpful.
